PA MAYFIELD — Mayfield Borough Council voted 5-2 to initiate solar zoning amendments tightening requirements for large-scale facilities. The amendments increase setbacks from 50 feet to 150 feet from property lines and raise decommissioning financial security from 100 percent to 150 percent of removal and restoration costs. Sound studies are capped at 55 dBa, with glare requirements addressing all potentially affected properties.
Large-scale solar would become a conditional use only in the R/C (TD1) zone. Council members Jennifer Rossi, Dennis Ross, Wendy Bochnovich, Tom Hartman, and Tiffany Smith voted yes; Diana Campbell and Mary Rosler voted no. The amended ordinances will be sent to county and municipal planning commissions for review.
