PA MAYFIELD — Mayfield Borough held a public hearing on a proposed 6-megawatt solar farm ahead of a scheduled evening vote. Council President Diana Campbell presided as TotalEnergies and environmental consultant TRC presented Solar Star Mayfield One LLC, a two-unit solar installation projected to generate $167,000 in annual property tax and $178,000 in permit fees. Residents raised concerns about whether electricity would benefit Mayfield residents directly, cadmium contamination risks, impact on non-endangered wildlife, and effects on flood-prone and coal-mined areas.

Developers described quarterly panel monitoring, weekly erosion control during construction, and a decommissioning bond covering removal costs.
